Because “one size fits all” is great for novelty socks, but not for brains.
At The Perceptive Mind, we believe that understanding how your brain works (and why it sometimes refuses to cooperate with your to-do list) is a vital part of living a fuller, more authentic life. Our neuroaffirming assessments are thorough, collaborative, and refreshingly free from judgment or “fix-it” thinking. We are here to help you (or your loved one) discover strengths, clarify challenges, and create a personalized roadmap for thriving at school, work, or wherever life takes you.
What I do NOT do with assessments: Services for Social Security, neurological evaluations, clinical psychological evaluations, intelligence testing, forensic services, parent planning, court custody, and medicine management. A licensed and doctoral-level professional MUST deliver all of those services. If this is what you need, I do not want to give false hope.
What is a Neuroeducational Assessment?
A Neuroeducational Assessment is an extremely thorough evaluation that explores how life experiences, cognitive, academic, sensory, and emotional factors interact in daily life and impact your mental, physical, and relational health. Here at The Perceptive Mind, you can say goodbye to the pathological doom-and-gloom medical model. We won’t just check boxes for diagnoses—together we will highlight strengths, uncover differences, and offer practical recommendations for real-world success. We celebrate every perceptive mind here.
The Process: Collaborative Therapeutic Assessment (CTA)
At The Perceptive Mind, we take a strengths-based, empowering, collaborative therapeutic assessment (CTA) approach to our evaluation process, thinking the opposite of the problem-based, white-walled medical model. Unlike traditional assessments, CTA is a collaborative process conducted over several sessions, during which we work together to address your most important questions, explore patterns, and co-create a narrative that is accurate, compassionate, and actionable.
The process can be either in-person or virtual. Please feel free to participate in whatever attire makes you feel safest and most authentic—whether that’s pajamas, sweats, sensory-regulation tools, or your emotional-support water bottle close by. Minus a few structured assessments for validity, you are encouraged to go at your own pace: pause, rewind, and ask questions at any time. As a neurodiversity-affirming practice, my approach is that there is no need to mask, explain stimming, info-dumping, having testing anxiety, be fearful of being perfect, or moving around during sessions. Above all, CTA is collaborative—you are the expert on your own experience, and our role is to help you understand and navigate your unique story.

Feedback Session: We go through the results together, answer any questions, and give you a written report with clear, personalized recommendations.
Why Choose The Perceptive Mind?
Collaborative Team Approach: We involve the individuals who know you (or your loved one) best, ensuring a comprehensive understanding from multiple perspectives.
Comprehensive, Multi-Method Assessment: Our evaluations include a variety of tools—such as interactive activities, rating scales, performance-based tasks, and real-life observations—to capture a complete picture.
Strengths-Based Perspective: We focus on identifying and building upon strengths, recognizing each individual’s unique abilities—not just the challenges.
Neuro-Affirming Philosophy: We do not seek to “fix” or pathologize. Instead, we celebrate the whole individual and walk alongside you throughout the process.
Humor and Compassion: We approach our work with seriousness and respect for your life and experiences, but believe that assessment does not have to be intimidating. We create an environment that is supportive, approachable, and even enjoyable.
In-Depth, Individualized Evaluation: We go beyond surface-level checklists and quick screenings. Our assessments dive deep into understanding the underlying factors—such as attention, communication, motivation, social, sensory, and masking—so we can collaboratively explore the “why” and foster understanding, not just solutions.
